Bello's Walk Off Home Run Seals Series for Bulls

The Bulls, looking for their first American Athletic Conference series win of the season, took the final game in the series with a walk off home run by Alex Bello.  It was Bello's second walk off home run in his freshman campaign.  Bello sealed the series win delivering the Bulls a 4-3 victory in the third game of the series.

Garrett Zech started the inning with a single to center.  Tyler Dietrich, attempting to move the runner over, popped out in foul territory.  Then on a 2-2 count with things looking bleak, Bello belted the game winner.

Earlier the Bulls staked a 2-0 lead getting one run in each the fourth and fifth innings.  In the fourth Jordan Santos singled to start the frame.  Later Chris Chatfield would single, putting runners on first and second.  With one out, Julio Cortez singled home Santos.

In the fifth inning, Bello scored after walking, moving to second on Kyle Phillips single then scored on a Santos ground out.D5RAh2NXsAQ6FML.jpg

Senior starting pitcher Alec Wisely had his best outing of the season, shutting out the Houston cougars for 6 2/3 innings before handing the ball to reliever Nelson Alvarez.  Alvarez got Wisely out of a seventh inning jam by getting Houston's Jared Triolo to pop out with two out and two runners on base.

But in the eighth, the big righthander got into his own trouble, hitting the first two batters.  The next batter, Derrick Cherry, then managed an infield single followed with a throwing error allowing the first Houston run to score.  Alvarez walked the next batter before a fielder's choice and subsequent error allowed two more Houston runs to score before finally getting a pair of fly outs to end the inning.
