USF Baseball Opens Big Easy Series with Crushing Loss

    New Orleans, LA

The USF Bulls opened up their fourth American Athletic series last night against the Tulane Green Wave.  The Bulls, occupying the bottom of The American standings (15-17, 2-8) struggled mightily offensively while their pitching continues to offer up scoring opportunities for the opponent.  The final was Tulane 9, Bulls 2.  We haven't talked defense, but let's do.  Just six of the nine runs were earned as the Bulls added two errors to the mix.  The Bulls starter, Baron Stuart, gave up an early run in the bottom of the first before giving up a two run homer in the third.  The Bulls would respond in the fourth with a run on a Joe Genord solo shot - his 10th of the season.  The Bulls finished with five hits with the only other extra base hit a double by Tyler Dietrich.D4ADtJDW0AAglzg.jpg

Dylan Burns relieved Stuart in the bottom of the fourth and provide a couple of innings of scoreless relief until the bottom of the seventh getting touched for three runs.  Burns would start the eight inning as well, but not escape until three more runs were surrendered.  Pat Doudican relieved Burns, finishing up a costly inning.

South Florida has now dropped nine of its last twelve ball games and has yet to win an American Athletic series.

The Bulls will face the Green Wave in Game Two today at 3 p.m.  Colin Sullivan, the team's #1, will pitch the Saturday game again.

You can catch the game's live stream on the Tulane site.
