Bulls Extend Winning Streak to Four with 6-1 Win at FGCU

    4/24/19

Fort Myers, FL - Alec Wisely returned to the mound after an absolute shelling by The Citadel Bulldogs on Sunday.  In that contest, Wisely was chased form the mound in the first inning after giving up six runs (five earned) in 2/3 of an inning.  Wisely issued four walks and gave up two hits prior to his removal.  His last four game stretch has not been good, giving up 22 earned runs in his last 14.2 innings.  D49wa6tWsAIzN2w.jpg:large

Wisely went two innings against Florida Gulf Coast, facing eight batters and yielding two hits but giving up no runs or free passes.  Wisely exited after two innings.  He was relieved by Pat Doudican who went 1 2/3 before yielding to Dylan Burns.  Doudican gave up one earned run, but did so at a time the Bulls were up 4-0.  He struggle with control walking two and throwing two wild pitches.

Burns, on the other hand, looked like ace-like.  Unhittable through four innings, Burns was ultimately relived by Nelson Alvarez after issuing consecutive two out walks in the bottom of the eighth.

Alvarez threw a wild pitch, allowing the runners to advance to second and third before striking out Marc Coffers to end the FGCU eighth. He would finish it out for the Bulls adding three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings of work.

The Bulls got a run in both the first and second, before adding 2 additional runs in both the 4th and 5th.  Kyle Phillips and Alex Bello led the attack with each picking up two hits.  Phillips added two RBI; Bello, one.  Jake Sullivan managed to acquire four bases on balls.
