Baseball Skid Continues with Loss to A-Sun's UNF

Tampa, FL - The South Florida Bulls baseball team extended its losing streak to four games in a span that has seen losses in 12 of their last 15.  The Bulls dropped a midweek game Tuesday to the University of North Florida Ospreys, 5-3.  The Bulls also lost to the Ospreys last month, 7-2.

Again, early pitching problems bothered the Bulls.  USF started Noah Yager, who had recently thrown on Sunday against Tulane (1.1 shutout innings in relief).  Yager could not get out of the first inning allowing a leadoff double then walking a batter before getting his first out.  But, Yager followed that out D4UXWwNW4AEfMD3.jpg:largewith another walk loading the bases.  Yager was yanked with the bags full and Dylan Burns entered with just one out.  Burns proceeded to hit a batsman bringing in the first Osprey run.  Next, Burns would allow a sacrifice fly to put the Bulls down two runs before ever coming to bat.

The Bulls stampeded back in the bottom of the third, claiming a 3-2 lead on five hits and two North Florida errors.  All five hits were singles, two of the runs were earned.

But as we have seen in recent Bulls fashion, it was a see-saw affair.  No sooner had the Bulls taken the lead that they handed it back with two UNF runs in the top of the 6th and one more in the top of the 8th.  The Bulls were shut out for the final 6 innings, mustering just two hits in that long stretch of scoreless ball.

Now at 15-20, the Bulls will have a couple days to prepare for a 3 game non-conference set against The Citadel in a rare Thursday - Saturday schedule.
