Backs Firmly Against the Wall; Bulls Look to Friday

    5/16/19

Tampa, FL - With the American Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament just around the corner in proximity as well as the calendar, the Bulls needed to take two out of three from the Wichita State Shockers.  Game One tonight in Tampa put the Bulls a step back from that goal, losing to Wichita State 7-6.  D6vJPCbWkAAtqKW.jpg

Baron Stuart got into serious trouble in the 5th inning, ultimately giving up 6 unearned (5 ER) before being yanked one out shy of finishing the 5th inning.  The Bulls would respond with a run in the bottom of the inning, leaving them trailing 6-2 entering the 6th.  The Shockers would add another run in the 6th built on a double and scored on a wild pitch.

The Bulls came roaring back in the 8th as the Shockers seemed to implode.  The Bulls put up four runs on two hits powered by WSU's error and three issued walks.  USF's  Kyle Phillip's double was the highlight of the inning scoring both Tyler Dietrich and Austin Bodrato.

But, the Bulls could get no closer in the 9th.  It ended 7-6 Shockers.
