  1. I vividly remember a conversation I had with Scott Kull when he was here. I'm sure most of you know that he came from TCU, so he was well versed on matters within the Big XII. When they were potentially looking to expand he told me that the thing holding USF back was our situation with not having an OCS. The OCS would provide USF with 100% revenue streams on everything associated with it, where we aren't even close to collecting that right now.

  4. Conference realignment since we got into the Big East has been one depressing hit after the other. I'm just hoping we do actually get an OCS. At this point, I'm for watching the Bulls play on campus in our own stadium in whatever ****** conference we get stuck in. The real power conferences seem to only be interested in big land grant schools with years and years of tradition (donors, fans for merch, etc. etc.). Even if we do break into a P4/5 conference, it'll be the shittiest one. Who cares anymore. Let's just get good at football again and have fun with it.

  5. BULL IN THE SPOTLIGHT: TIMMY MCCLAIN October 01, 2021 By Joey Johnston He throws darts, tight spirals that are catchable and almost always on target. He doesn't run, he glides. It seems almost effortless. He makes defenders look like they are in quicksand. Then he shifts into full-burst mode, especially if the first-down marker is within sight. USF true freshman quarterback Timmy McClain, approaching the fifth game of his college career, will start for the third consecutive week Saturday afternoon when the Bulls (1-3) travel to face the SMU Mustangs (4-0) in Dallas. It's tempting to take that small sample size and get carried away with hyperbole, assigning superhuman qualities to the kid who already has provided so much real-time hope — and so much excitement for the future. But when you talk to people who know him best — his parents, his little-league and high-school coaches, his longtime teammates — it becomes apparent that McClain's debut has been nothing new. "The Timmy you're seeing now is the same Timmy at age 10,'' said former NFL linebacker Anthony Fieldings, who coached McClain with the Apopka Raptors, a youth-league powerhouse. "USF folks need to buckle up and enjoy this ride. He does things that are uncommon.'' Exasperated BYU coach Kalani Sitake found that out last Saturday, when McClain engineered three long second-half touchdown drives, making the No. 15-ranked Cougars sweat, before the Bulls finally fell short, 35-27. But the point — and points — had been made. Even in the noisy din of LaVell Edwards Stadium, even when facing a fourth-and-goal while driving into the hyperactive student section and the BYU marching band, McClain was not bothered. Like always, he was there to do a job. "I can't believe he's a young freshman,'' Sitake said afterward. "He can... Rest of Story

  9. Hey guys, just wanted to say over here at FAU we are really excited about your stadium. Hopefully, you can get something as great as ours down here in Boca. It will be a great trip when we have our AAC rivalry. Go Owls! Go Bulls!

  10. I wouldn't be too concerned with that. They would only leave if it meant the MWC media rights deal was paying them substantially more money, which would mean our payout would be dipping significantly below $4 million (down to $2 million???). Given that it would cost them each at least $10 million to leave the conference, we would be earning more from their buyout money than our media rights deal. The departing teams (Cincy, UCF, Houston, SMU and Tulsa) would be paying at least $50 million to leave. If there were 6 teams splitting that revenue, that would mean $8.333 million to each remaining team. Their NCAA tournament points also belong to the conference, so that money would only have to be split amongst the remaining members. Right now, the AAC has about 30 units total over the current 6 year cycle, with a really bad year in 2015 about to come off the books. Assuming just a similar performance the next season or two, the conference stands to make about $29.4 million over the next 6 years off of its NCAA points. That would be an additional $4.9 million per remaining school. In total, the remaining schools would receive about $13.25 million from the departing teams. That would be enough to cover the shortfall for 3 years after the teams ultimately depart. Assuming they wait the two years to join their new conferences, USF would be ok financially through 2026-2027. Hopefully, by then, there would be a path to a better conference.

  11. 1. I can't remember what game, but CJL faked 2 FGs 2. Auburn. No doubt. We were walking up the spiral ramp to our nosebleed seats when some war eagle jerk-ass was drunk yelling at all BULLS fans as we walked by. I calmly walked up to him and asked "Excuse me, do you know what color a BULLS ******* is?" He looked at me puzzled, and I burst out "IT'S AUBURN!" We all had a good laugh at his silence. 3. All 3 this Saturday. 4. Longer. 5. No, toupee maybe.

  12. This has been my dream since we got into the Big East, that somehow we make it into the ACC. It's the only conference that makes sense in the traditional/geographic sense. It'll never happen. But, it's ma dream! LOL.

  14. Very much expected. Air Force wanted to go but CSU changed their minds I guess when it was confirmed yesterday that SDSU and BSU were standing firm. Look for UAB, Liberty, UTSA, and Charlotte to get hard looks. Anyone who says Coastal Carolina and App state are looking short term and football only. IMO Liberty is the strongest add but comes with backlash. Think Aresco was trying to avoid being put in this situation by shooting for the stars. Also this is pure speculation from my part

  15. I’m going to say No on the classrooms because the state no longer gives funding for classrooms as part of a stadium building. So that would just add to the cost without income for it. I think what they want to do is build around it a village of dorms with retail space that would bring extra income. Maybe even privately controlled dorms.

  16. Stadium announcement is GUARANTEEED to be announced this year... - *in my Charles Barkley Big 12 wants to see more of a investment on Athletics from USF before inviting them since if you invite them right now, they wouldn't really be incentivized to build a stadium and invest on athletics as a whole. Big 12 wants USF more than Boise... However, they need to see the infrastructure and commitment. IF NOT, Boise gets in instead of us. There was a reason why Will Weatherford brought up the stadium during the ceremony... More than one person told me this as well.

  18. So they may be working on something or they may not. And they are working on an announcement but there might not be one - at least not now because they wouldn’t say either way. And progress is being made on some things that we won’t talk about and the sun may or may not come out tomorrow. So basically right where we were before. And to think I thought this whole thing was going to be broken on a message board. It had made for some great wishful reading though.

  19. I don't think he is the cause of them becoming 2-2 , but he does need to get USF a FBS win. The only thing i keep hearing is the culture improved here, but we keep on losing to FBS. Enough is enough. I care about results and wins on the field.

  20. Making the Bowl games(win or lose) always resulted in a pay day $ which was a great thing for USF athletics. That is the thing that we could use...extra $$ for facilities, etc. That adds to the pain of losing seasons.

  22. It was quite a dinner. We solved the three largest macro global economic problems, improved the efficiency of the restaurant’s kitchen, created a 3 year and 5 year strategic plan for USF Athletics (which were later ignored), wrote a Broadway play, and raised $30,000 for the United Way…and we still had time for desert. 😂

  26. It becomes problematic because you still need to generate revenue. How much would a media provider be willing to pay annually for rights to broadcast USF athletics? My guess is not much. What then becomes of your non-revenue sports? All football independents have a home for their other sports. We would be looking at CUSA or the Sun Belt. That might save us some money on travel. Certainly, if we were only making $250,000 per year from our conference media rights it would be something worth considering but so long as we are making north of $2 million from the media rights, it is highly unlikely that it would be worth our while. That doesn't even begin to get into the issue of trying to schedule games. We could expect games against Army, UCONN, Liberty, and UMASS on a regular basis. The Independents almost become de facto conference mates.

  31. The announcement will be something like. “In light of the recent conference realignment news we are proud to name Corbett Stadium the new home of our football team. Dozens of seats will soon be added to accommodate our fans. Games where we anticipate that visitor fans will attend will be played at Ray Jay. It’s a great day to be a Bulls. The future is bright!” Then they school folks run away laughing and go back into hiding

  32. I mean with rumors swirling about USF and Memphis possibly bolting to the Big 12 in a couple years why would they come? So they can be in a conference headlined by SMU and Tulane in a few years? I think after the BIG 12 picks their next 2-4 schools the AAC and MWC will have some teams jump ship to the other, but no point in doing that until you see which conference is stronger after that expansion.
