  5. Some sobering figures from the most recent USA Today NCAA Finances article in case anyone still has their green and gold glasses on about where we are in relation to other AAC public schools when it comes to this: Contributions 2017 Contributions: Includes amounts received directly from individuals, corporations, associations, foundations, clubs or other organizations for the operations of the athletics program. Amounts paid in excess of a ticket’s value. Contributions include cash, marketable securities and in-kind contributions such as dealer-provided cars for staff use. Also includes revenue from preferential seating. Our Contribution levels going back to 2005 (not sure if criteria was same for all those years)

  6. I'm sure it's more sloppy than intentional in this case, but still takes some shine off a story about a great accomplishment.

  7. All of this. Also, Kelly's connections to the business community in the Tampa area and many of it's movers and shakers can't be talked about enough. Because he is so well respected and liked in that community he will have instant credibility which will go a long way when he tries to get them to buy into future USF athletics projects like an OCS. Jurich, like Harlan, would've needed probably at least a couple of years build any kind of relationships at all and even then they wouldn't be close to what Kelly has locally. There is definitely some risk here because Kelly has never ran an athletic department but as far as fundraising potential Kelly checks all the boxes USF needs. Hopefully he can get more pens put to checks than either of the previous two regimes. If we are going to position ourselves for the next wave of realignment we need the bay area to buy in financially and Kelly has all the tools to do it.

  8. Wrong. You limit your conferences over all market penetration when compared to a rival Conference which already has two established and successful teams in that market. Not to mention that you're also going up against a second Conference with a widely successful team already established in the market. by only taking one of the two available teams in that market, you limit your appeal and exposure. Two teams = twice the home games played per year in that market and more overall coverage for your conference within that market. There's a huge difference between entering an open market and one that's already being dominated by a rival. What do I know, I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night so, I could be wrong.

  12. Yeah, except they didn’t go down. Scoring was down 6 a game, though, to a horrific 38 points.

  13. “Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships.” - Bear Bryant I think maybe our D will actually save a couple of games for us this year instead of costing them as in the past.

  18. When I initially saw his name out there, along with Higgins, thought either of them would be perfect but also didn't think we had a shot at either because of their current positions. This is a very pleasant surprise ...

  19. Is it a good idea for Genord to be playing in Amsterdam?

  20. Yeah, that’s what I did when I watched our offensive numbers go down and we let teams like San Jose State and Tulsa compete with us , which is a fact. Didn’t we run more plays per game last season as well? We won’t have QF to bail us out of those games this year, and I think that’s a legitimate concern.
