Hi Guest,

In our efforts to raise funds for USF Football, the site is giving away a football season full of ad-free surfing at The Bulls Pen.

Would you consider buying a ticket or two to the raffle that will award this to you or a fellow member of the board?

Each ticket purchase goes directly to our effort to raise $10K in "fan money" for the program.  Below is the link:

Thank you,

I sometimes get the feeling he’s gotten to the point where he’s just trolling the whole fan base because it gets people stirred up and drives more clicks. I don’t think he truly enjoys covering the team even the slightest bit and merely does it because it gives him a weekly paycheck.

The times I’ve talked to Harlan have been very positive. He seems personable and I’m frankly a nobody. I hear he’s rubbed some major donors the wrong way, which isn’t great, but my question is how? Asking for too much? Too persistent? Money going to the wrong places? Not as personable to them? Maybe not sincere? How much is out of his control? His moves have been fine, COA being the glaring miss. CBG at least appears to be the right hire for perception and growth; it’s not like there were other candidates banging down the door to get in and I’m sure you think twice before going down the assistant route again. The only program that seems to be consistently terrible is cross country, track and field. But I’m not entirely sure that’s a coaching thing or a facility thing. From where I’m standing keeping consistency is the best policy. Unless of course there are donors who will not donate a penny unless there’s a new AD.

Last game I went to i had club seats, but didn't go inside during the game. I must have missed all the socializing between waiting in line for the $13 beers. Speaking of $13 beers, I'd feel much better about that price point if I knew USF was getting a cut. I commented that if they could somehow make this the centerpiece of a larger commercial/entertainment district (part of a larger development plan on the County level), that they may be able to see a return on this investment (or have it be less of a money pit) sooner rather than later. This has the potential to completely change this part of town, if done properly. Make it pedestrian friendly with ample parking away from the stadium that funnels people through the surrounding businesses (assuming they pop up). Maybe a pipe dream, but it would be nice.

$10k a seat? That's as much as it would cost to rent the Sheriff's condo for a couple of days. That would be a bargain.

What, Joey Knight wasn't already on USF's mailing list? Color me surprised

Just took mine. Boy this stadium is going to be expensive lol. There were plenty of questions asking about fancy Tv's, beer gardens, and padded seats; to which my answer was "definitely needed"

Why bother? Joey Knight says it's pointless. (Sarcasm)

We're trying to play along with the false notion you are our rivals/we wish to be rivals simply because of an interstate.

Better make some room in the trophy case for all those Bad Boy Mower Gasparilla Bowl trophies Harlan is going to lead us too! On a side note, Harlan has asked for guaranteed vacation time for mid to late March every year of his contract extension since he won' have much going on then.

It's not that they pay or do not pay. It is that they do not attend. Pay or not, if they don't fill their 12k, then lower their allotment to a number they will fill. If they all paid and attended we'd have 60k people per game.

But what if the CEO is poor in decision skills.....

Jury is still out on current MBB coach so we will see. But in general I am ok with his hiring decisions. The issue I have is with his personality. I have heard from a few of the whales that he can be disingenuous sometimes. As you mention Tampa is a tough place to fund raise...but too bad we need $ ASAP. ADs are turning more and more into college presidents as they have one specific purpose...get money. Does this man, in your opinion, have the personality to make this happen? I am saying no he does not but I am hopeful that yes he can. I can separate my personal opinion about the guy (I just don’t think he is likeable to the few times I have met him) if he gets $ results.

I've met him twice for a total of about 15 minutes. Seemed ok to me. Hard for me to get a fix on his personality in that short of time. Seems like lots of things associated with Athletics are going well and he's the boss, so he gets the credit.

No actually the jury isn't. He has a proven track record and has been to just as many ncaa tournaments as a coach than we have as a school. I don't see how the jury is still out. COA wasn't really the first choice... he fell into the job after it was discovered the Manhattan coach lied about his 4 year degree.
