  1. Okay, let's get one thing straight: We do this for fun (being a Bulls' fan). Well, I know I do. There's plenty left in this season. I think this team can still do things that no other USF team has done, like win a conference championship. And the added bonus would be to go over to gnat world and beat their undefeated team on national TV in front of millions of people. That would be sweet! GO BULLS!

  2. Let's not forget Houston's 2015 season where they were ranked 13th at 10-0 and lost to Connecticut. They still went on to win the conference and beat Florida state in the peach bowl. All is not lost. Hopefully the coaching staff sees where they went wrong and make some changes.

  3. Thank you! This board is becoming depressing lol You would think we are having a losing season based on these posts. I mean we could be having a season like UF or FSU. Some USF fans need to learn to be grateful for what they do have and not always dwell on the negative. Let the season play out. Its not like Houston whooped us, they got a lucky on a 4th and 24.

  4. We are also missing Marlon Mack and Rodney Adams, which we tend to forget. But there is a bigger picture here as well. There is a reason we are doing things differently, and part of that is to help the defense. Our defense has played much, much better this season. The way you run your offense does have some indirect effects on your defense. It isn't all because of that, but there is a reason for everything they do right now. I also find it funny that Taggart's offense was horrible for two years and everyone made excuses for him. CCS comes in and we have one game under 30 points

  6. This is where I am. We passed a lot. Play calling adjustments were made. Houston shut down the run. We still had a good chance to win in the final seconds. Houston needed 3 out of 3 miracles to win and got them all. 1. Bad USF clock management 2. Good kick return 3. Convert 4th and 24. The game was very close in the final seconds. We are still a very strong team and had we batted down that ball and were we 8-0, well we are still the same team basically, just 7-1.... it's not like we got totally dominated by Houston. My biggest concern is the defense giv

  8. TBP Saturday night: This team sucks!! TBP Sunday: There are serious flaws and no way we beat UCF. TBP Monday: We'll find a way to rebound from this loss. Can't give up on the season. TBP Tuesday: We're going to win the championship!

  11. You act like if X team loses to Y team who loses to Z team that means Z team is better than X. We have no chance against UCF because they beat Memphis and Memphis beat Houston and Houston just beat us. Sorry buddy its not that simple. Every game is unique and determined by different circumstances and matchups. Yes Houston has some bad losses, but they are still a good team. The difference between a top 15 team and a top 50 team is not that large. That's why teams move in and out of the top 25 all season long. And I was going off of the S&P+ rankings that have Houston 44th. Its not li

  12. Not saying they were a top 50 team or not, but just because they are 4th in division of the 6th beast conference doesn't mean that they are not better than a lot of teams in the P5 conferences.

  13. not sure anyone made excuses for him for 2 years. everyone knew his offense didn't work. he knew enough to change. especially his blocking scheme. he thought we could be power run and realized we couldn't with our o-line. so having an unimaginative offense is the key to a good defense?can't throw RB screens? or TE slants?try to open up the run by using the pass? If it were about helping the defense then don't you think they would slow things down and run fewer plays? we are #2 in the country for number of offensive plays. BTW here are the defenses we have play

  15. I'm this type of childish too. Objectively speaking, I might've gone to Oregon if I were in Taggart's shoes, especially considering we don't know all of the behind the scenes stuff that went on, BUT being that I'm going to be a USF fan for life, I don't have to cheer about the fact that money and prestige win-out over loyalty for the Tampa Bay area, in addition to the fact that college football is even more of a status-quo with the P5 alignment. I see no reason that I have to applaud the rich getting richer as I watch a revolving door of coaches use us for a stepping stone, which is exactly t

  17. Yes he I spoke not always accurate. The first drive was not good. however he was 9 of 12 in the second half and 60% overall. However, the last drive why not even run QB power to attack the edge. Maybe pick up a first down and kill the clock. Maybe get the touchdown. If you don’t trust his arm then at least trust his legs.

  18. IMO these were the six big plays that killed us: 2nd and 10 at USF 39 (13:02 - 3rd) Courtney Lark 39 Yd pass from D'Eriq King TD 1st and 10 at 50 (4:02 - 3rd) Mulbah Car run for 46 yds to the SFla 4 for a 1ST down 2nd and 11 at HOU 49 (10:27 - 4th) D'Eriq King run for 44 yds to the SFla 7 for a 1ST down (1:46 - 4th) Emilio Nadelman kickoff for 64 yds , Brandon McDowell return for 50 yds to the SFla 49 4th and 24 at HOU 37 (1:07 - 4th) D'Eriq King pass complete to Courtney Lark for 30 yds to the SFla 33 for a 1ST down 3rd and 9 at USF 20 (0:11 - 4th) D'Eriq Ki

  19. I can't stand him, but Urban Meyer adapted his offense to fit Chris Leak's strengths when he first got to Gainesville. Did such a good job they won a natty in year 2. To me, that's COACHING.

  21. If he was tackled in and short of the 11, game would’ve been over. Can’t spike on 4th down. No way they get the FG team on fast enough.

  22. That's what really hurts. Had ANYONE been able to slow him & get help, he maybe gets tackled in bounds & the clocks expires.

  23. Yep, the last TD run was this, the DE kept the outside containment too. The problem was Nico Sawtelle. He over pursued to one side and that reopened that outside lane and with his lack of speed he couldnt tackle him at the 5. If he doesnt over pursue he at least slows him down around the 12 or 15 yard line.

  25. What do you think makes those first down passes able to go for those yards? It is the defense respecting the run. Its called an intangible which doesn't show up in the stats. It is all about risk/reward. Running is low risk low reward. No gain is not the end of the world. Passing is higher risk/higher reward. Again the goal is to score not pickup yards on 1st down. Getting yards on 1st down helps with that absolutely. Many of those runs help you see how they are gameplanning against you on defense or setup other plays. Its all a game of what ifs. How do you know if we pass it 5 mor

  26. I would have liked more production on 1st down. 100%. But to hammer on Charlie's quote we would have to go back and rewatch every first down play and see what defense they were in. I'm sure we ran it a couple times when they loaded the box, we also passed a few times when they dropped 8 into coverage. As far as your stat...the two biggest of those losing plays were runs to the outside. Something people on here had been clamoring for. And your stat is skewed because sacks are counted as running plays in college football as well. The best thing about a run up the middle is the limited downs

  27. Okay armchair quarterback. We punted 6 times in the first half and 3 times in the second half. Want to guess how many of those had a run up the middle on 1st down? 3. That's right. I'll wait while you check the game log. Of the other 6? 2 were outside sweeps which failed miserably for a loss of 5 each time. And the other 4 were either incomplete or sacks. Selective memory is a wonderful thing when trying to prove yourself right.....

  28. I don't know you all can see us pass 38 times for 300+ yds in this game and claim Gilbert didn't change anything at all. The run game will always be a part of the offense even if it isn't be effective because that is what keeps the defense honest. And truthfully in the second half the run game was actually working pretty well. If it was up to the majority we would have passed it 70+ times and had 4 ints and about 10 sacks. Now here is what I would like to see. Change about 5 playcalls a game. Give me 1-2 rb screens and 2-3 qb sprint out run/pass options on key 3rd/4th and shorts. Th

  29. I have really liked BJM as well. Didn't have any huge problems with the defense. Although I'm sure we prepped somewhat for King at QB I doubt we expected them to use him all game like they did. Really added a totally different wrinkle to their offense. I don't mind rewatching the bad plays and seeing what went wrong. Once I've experienced the pain live it never seems to hurt as much(side note as a bucs fan as well the one exception to this rule is the 2003 bucs colts game). Their offense essentially had 5 plays the entire game. 1) Deep td over Hoggins. Not much to say on this one. H

  31. And I'm not bashing your actions at all. I don't think STUDENTS of either team deserve to be berated rudely by anyone. Let's not forget - these are STUDENTS first, athletes second. They are going to college to get an education FIRST, being an athlete is secondary. College football players are UNIVERSITY STUDENTS But I'm certainly not bashing you for not taking out your phone. Just more of a learning lesson going forward for everyone. If someone is being a jerk, or crossing the line, take that phone out and record it! Then upload it to Youtube when you get home. Be hopit

  32. Ya'll acting like this offense sucks and the world is ending. This offense is legitimately the second most productive offense (YPG) in the history of the school. This offense doesn't need an overhaul to be lights out... it just needs tweaks. Add in a few more RPO, add in some screens.... that's it. I would love to hate on Gilbert like the rest of this forum, but ya'll are delusional if you think his offense hasn't been successful this far. I agree it could be better, but comparing our performance this year to Taggart's first two years, or Strong's tenure at Texas just doesn't hold water. We're

Iowa State! 1) Is there a kid in FL that ISU doesn't offer? 2) Why in God's name does a kid from FL even go to Ames, IA for a visit and not want to: a) win football games? b) be a part of civilized America? c) want to at least entertain the idea of a seeing attractive females? I have absolutely zero problem with a kid deciding he wants to use his athletic skills to get out of FL for the fist time in his life and spend 4 years playing football and get the chance to experience the culture of another part of the country. But, sweet baby Jesus, ISU
