Nope. COA might be on the Hot Seat going into his 3rd season because next season certainly isn't looking near as promising w/o Montero. The 2015 class is average at best now without an offensive skill player among the group unless 6ft SG McMurray is much better then expected on the D1 level. It's going to be very interesting what kind of spring class this now desperate staff can put together. Need guys that can put points on the board. We have hustle guys and rebounders in Sanchez and Da Silva we need offensive skilled guys badly for next season.

Anyone who mentions a hot seat for a newly hired coach at USF is on crack. He's good as long as he wants to stay for a minimum of 5-7 losing seasons.

 

 

You've been around for at least 3 years so you should know by now that Vega loves to project USF coaches being on the hot seat years down the line based strictly on recruiting ... but I don't know if COA survives 5 losing seasons in this conference, though .... but that is a long long way off and hopefully Coach gets things pulled together in the next couple of years.

 

 

I'm just basing my 5-7 on historical data, most recently Stan Heath. All COA needs to do to have a fairly long career at USF is have a good season and he'll be set for a few years if he wants...well that was how Doug Woolard managed things. I don't know if that flies with our new AD. Time will tell.

This totally sucks. Montero was the one guy of the entire recruiting class I REALLY wanted to see in green and gold.

 

Hopefully COA stays tight with him and he still comes to us after another year in juco.

Holston appears to be showing signs of being the scorer he was recruited for but can always use more. Maybe COA needs to follow CJF's lead and branch out even further internationally than he already he is ... but we still don't have a a schollie left but will have a couple of months to see if one comes available.

Only thing I am concerned about is reeling in a scorer soon. Someone well suited for Antiguas offense. I like Holston, he has potential and shows flashes. but we need more than Holston lest we find ourselves barely anywhere different than with CAJ. Size coming in will help loads, but if we are going to win with this team Mercurius and Morrillo need to get to running the court and putting the ball in the net.
