For me, i would get the cost to $40.00.  Because dollars are a unit that is clear understandable, the minute fraction of a gallon is not.

Dollars are countable nouns, gasoline is an uncountable noun!

No, we have CDO, it's like OCD but the letters are in alphabetical order like they should be.
