So Colbert comes to visit Dave, sort of a torch-passing visit.

 

But Dave's not even home anymore. I grew up watching him on NBC. Back in the day, the man was funny!

 

Now, he can't even read "report". Instead, he calls it the "Cobert Rapport" --raaa pore. He did it twice. The first time, I thought I must have heard it wrong. "Dave wouldn't f-up like that." Nope, he did in full color at the end.

 

Sad. Another king is gone. Colbert is like a young Dave, though. He will do a great job.

Beta, you must have not seen the show before...that's one of Colbert's schticks.  He leaves the "t" out of the word "report", just as he does his own name ("Col-bare").

I've watched a lot of Cobert's stuff from the website and from clips, but I guess I've never heard him call it that way. --my bad!

 

I was just so depressed when I thought Dave had lost it. Dave was Colbert in the 80s and I would like to see him go out looking good.

 

I still love his "Mad as Hell Week" when he replayed angry guests. And Andy Kaufman's antics with Lawler always cracked me up.

 

Thanks for clearing that up for me, everyone!
