That was a great role for Morgan Freeman.  I think it's the first of his that I can really remember.

It was actually a favorite of mine growing up (as you can tell.. I have most of it memorized.)

The casting was excellent, such as Freeman, Rickman (was AWESOME as the Sheriff), and all others  .... except Costner.

Which is why I've never seen it...

You need to get over that and watch it just for Alan Rickman.

While Robin Hood came out after he played Hans Gruber in Die Hard, the role of the Sheriff was so well received, he began to be typecast as a villain character actor.

In fact, its due to this role the he has not played a villain since this movie

I'm assuming you mean he has not not played a villain since then but au contrare .... Snape was not a villain.

Eh?

I meant he's shied away from playing villains roles.

Now I'm confused. Thought you meant he had only played villians since then and I didn't remember any non-villians .... but then thought he may have been in a comedy about a Star Trek type tv show starring Tim Allen so there were probably more I'm just not aware of

Isnt Kevin Bacon in there too?

No, he's not in it.  You may be thinking of Christian Slater playing Will Scarlett, perhaps?

Ah yes. I seem to be getting these three confused:

Christian Slater - in the movie

Christian%20Slater%20%20Robin%20Hood,%20

Bryan Adams - did the hit track Everything I do I do It for You

Kevin Bacon - Looks kinda like the two above and is in almost every movie

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
