The casting was excellent, such as Freeman, Rickman (was AWESOME as the Sheriff), and all others .... except Costner.

Costner not doing a British accent kind of ruined it, plus the acting left quite a bit to be desired, but it was still entertaining. This from IMDb: Rumor has it that Kevin Costner wanted to use an English accent, but director Kevin Reynolds didn't want him to. Supposedly, Costner would affect the accent when he was arguing with Reynolds, but not when they were in agreement. Costner claims that he was initially asked to use an accent and hired a dialect coach, but this was stopped (and the coach was fired) when he did it poorly. Rickman was the best, though, hands down. You need to get over that and watch it just for Alan Rickman.

While Robin Hood came out after he played Hans Gruber in Die Hard, the role of the Sheriff was so well received, he began to be typecast as a villain character actor. In fact, its due to this role the he has not played a villain since this movie

No, he's not in it. You may be thinking of Christian Slater playing Will Scarlett, perhaps?
