Three letters... N.B.C.

In Theory, a fun idea. Realistically though it will only further distance us from the top 5 to go completely to NBC.

FSU's athletics budget suddenly good, not in shortfall after all

Just like that, it's gone. Over. Done with. Kaput.

As of June 1, the Seminoles are operating in the black.

According to athletics director Randy Spetman, bright blue economic skies have begun surrounding upon the school's sports programs, replacing the dark financial clouds that once morbidly loomed over them.

During an address made Friday morning to the board of trustees at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Spetman acknowledged that thanks to money from the ACC, FSU's athletics department is no longer facing a $2.4 million shortfall on its next fiscal budget.

Also disappeared with the ACC's benevolent snap of a finger, is the $500,000 budgetary deficit from fiscal year 2011-12 that had been staring at the Seminoles in recent weeks.

Weird how FSU and the ACC came to this all of a sudden. Seems like the ACC is in desperation mode.

How much further can we get?

By the way, there is not such thing as the top five. The ACC isn't in much better shape than the BE. Did you take note that the ACC is belatedly campaigning for an eight team playoff?

They finally realized they were duped into second class status along with the BE.

You're right Top 5 is a joke. There are only 4 FB conferences left at the table and they are trying to decide who get's the leftovers.

SEC/Big 12/Big 10/Pac N >>>>>>ACC>>>>BE

When this whole thing shakes out, the ACC will still be a lot better place to be than the BE, for football, if for no other reason than geography and traditional football programs ...

Maybe, I have my doubts. Not that it matters too much. Assuming that the powers that be don't reverse course and consider an eight team schedule the SEC and B1G are likely to move all the way to 16 teams, as is the B12. Where are those schools going to come from?

Are they going to raid the ACC or the BE? They will go after the ACC predominantly. If it happens quickly and the Big East does a bang up job negotiating their TV deal this fall, the leftovers will fight to get in the BE. If expansion happens over a period of years, the ACC might slowly pick off BE schools.

Call it what you want, but unless something dramatically changes in the college landscape in the next few months, the end result will be an ACC/BE merger.
