Suit: Man's Genitalia Cut Off by Foam Cutter

A man who had part of his genitalia cut off by a peeler machine last year has filed a lawsuit against his employer, Future Foam Carpet Cushion. According to the suit, the man was removing a foam core from a machine used to cut carpeting foam when the machine turned on and the blade sliced into him. Lawsuit Filed over Death at Go-Kart Tack

A Colorado family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a local go-kart racing park after the death of their 9-year-old daughter in August 2010. The suit claims a recovery vehicle suddenly drove onto the track at Grand Junction Motor Speedway, causing the girl to crash her kart. Military Officials Ignoring **** Complaints, Suit Says

A group of women who served in the military have filed a lawsuit against the federal government, claiming their reports of sexual assault while overseas have been ignored. In the lawsuit, women detail counts of alleged **** in war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. 500,000 Bassinets Recalled

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 500,000 bassinets due to the chance the product can collapse. The bassinets, produced by Burlington Basket Company, can collapse "if not properly locked into position." 1,200 Disney Children's Watches Recalled

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 1,200 children's light-up watches sold at U.S. Disney resorts. Disney said the watches "can cause skin irritation and/or burning sensations to children who are allergic to nickel." 92,000 Heaters Recalled from Dollar General Stores

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of 92,000 portable heaters that have the tendency to overheat and catch fire. Suit Blames Mudslides Partially on Golf Course

A group of California homeowners have filed a lawsuit against Shorecliffs Golf Course over mudslides that occurred last December. The suit alleges golf course officials failed to properly maintain hillside slopes on the course that contributed to the dangerous mudslides. Settlement Reached over Homes Built Near Bomb Field

A $1.2 million settlement has been reached in a suit filed by Florida homeowners against their home builder for building their homes on and near a former bombing range. The suit claimed that home values plummeted after live bombs and munitions debris was found near their homes. Suit: Doctor Sexually Abused Child Patients

A former Boston pediatrician has been accused in a lawsuit of performing "medically unnecessary genital examinations" during a 20-year-span in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The malpractice and sexual abuse suit claims the doctor "inappropriately touched the children" and that Children's Hospital Boston officials failed to properly supervise him. Suit over Discriminatory Dress Code Dismissed

A class-action lawsuit against the Power & Light entertainment district in Kansas City over an alleged discriminatory dress code has been dismissed by a federal judge. The suit, filed by four African-American men, had claimed the entertainment district implemented a dress code to keep African-Americans out. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of around 26,000 SNIGLAR cribs sold by IKEA. The recall was issued after it was discovered that the "bolts provided with some SNIGLAR cribs to secure the mattress support are not long enough." Jury Awards $23 Million in Mississippi Shooting

A Mississippi jury has awarded $23 million in a lawsuit over the near-fatal shooting of a mentally ill man by an off-duty Jackson police officer in 2007 near a local Marriott. The suit claimed the officer used deadly, unnecessary force on an unarmed man for no reason. The jury assessed 70 percent blame on the hotel which had hired the officer for security when the shooting occurred, and 30 percent blame on the city.  Jimmie E. Court Spokeswoman Files Suit Against Los Angeles Sheriff's Department

A former Los Angeles County Superior Court spokeswoman has filed a lawsuit against the Sheriff's Department, claiming she was physically harassed by a courthouse deputy even though she had the proper credentials. The suit claims the woman was "grabbed by a courthouse deputy and pushed hard against a wall." Settlement Reached in Planted-Gun Lawsuit

The city of Oakland has agreed to a $300,000 settlement in a lawsuit claiming that a local police officer planted a gun on a parolee, sending him to jail for almost two years. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was arrested while at a funeral and charged with numerous weapons charges, although the gun found belonged to someone else. "This was an important case for holding the police officers accountable for their misconduct," the plaintiff's lawyer told the San Francisco Chronicle.  Henry K. Produced by EB Brands, the handles on the tubing can break or detach while in use, the company reported, posing a risk of injury to users. Ford Recalls F-150s over Airbag Deployments 

Ford Motor Co. has announced a recall of 144,000 F-150 trucks after it was discovered that the front airbags may deploy unannounced. The recall is being made at the request of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and covers 2005 and 2006-year models. Montana Family Awarded $1.7 Million 

A Montana woman and her four children have been awarded $1.7 million in a medical malpractice lawsuit over the death of her husband in 2005. The lawsuit alleged that a doctor at the Billings Clinic misdiagnosed Gerard Heidt's heart valve condition and failed to refer him to a specialist. Panera Bread Settles Investor Lawsuit

Panera Bread Co. has reached a $5.75 million settlement in a lawsuit over allegedly misleading investors about the success of the company's Crispani pizza. The lawsuit claimed that between 2005 and 2007, Panera Bread officials made false and misleading statements about Crispani, artificially inflating Panera's stock. Officials also failed to report that the product was a drag on sales and gave misleading growth projections. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 2,270 remote controls for entertainment systems due to the risk of the battery igniting. The company that produces the remotes, Niles Audio Corp., said that if the "battery falls from the remote control during handling, it can rupture and smoke or ignite, posing a fire hazard."
