How to play

Once an original word has been chosen, usually randomly or arbitrarily, the next player (message board member) will find a word that they associate with it and make it known to all the members, by entering it into a subsequent post. The next board member must then do the same with this previous word or phrase. This continues in turns for any length of time, but often word limits are set, so that the game is agreed to end after, for instance, 400 words.

Word Association works best on a message board when you immediately respond with the first word or phrase that comes to mind (use the quick post option) otherwise multiple answers can cloud and derail the natural path the game would take.
