It was thought going into this weekend Louisville could have been the team to beat for Patrick Grant but his visit this weekend to USF blew him away. Here is some of the comments he made abougt South Florida.

Florida DE Has Final Two

Patrick Grant By Mike Bakas

Posted Feb 4, 2007

Patrick Grant is one of the top defensive end prospects in South Florida this year and the Boyd Anderson High standout talked about the latest.

"I just got home from my visit to South Florida," Patrick Grant said. "Oh man, it was great. I loved it."

Grant, 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, talked about why he enjoyed USF so much.

"People don't understand how serious USF is," he said. "They recruit a bunch of guys from Florida and they've turned that program around. Their weight room and locker room make Iowa's look like a high school. It's really, really impressive there."

Grant was one of many recruits on USF's campus for the weekend and according to him, most of them will ink with USF.

"They had, I think, 18 recruits there and all but one of them committed," he said. "It's amazing what they're doing up there."

We better get use to it, USF is going to make it much harder to recruit Florida especially with Florida, Miami and FSU already established.

We shall see, I think most of it is recruit talk but he has lowered his decision to Iowa and USF.

On the other site, he does say that Leavitt leaving for a bigger job scares him. That just seems like he's looking for a solid excuse in case he decided not to come to USF.

Based on that comment I think he'll commit to Iowa, but we're in his final two, so I could be completely wrong. We'll see Wed.

Academics may play a role, he's borderline on qualifying. I've heard that he might have to go the JUCO route regardless of where he commits.

But he needs to realize that Leavitt is never going anywhere...

But at the same time he really called Iowa out on their "High School" like facilities.

I like that, he's a great player.

Hopefully he commits to USF and qualifies.

Funny how much harder it gets for guys like Ferentz to recruit Florida when their team goes 6-7.

Theres a fun little place here called the "Prospects & Potential Recruits" This article seems like it would fit right in.
