Hopefully we can get some preseaon buzz this summer from some of the major media outlets as a sleeper team.  The casual fan might be more apt to go see a game if the talking heads on ESPN are talking about a great program on the rise right in their back yard.  Beating Auburn would be a huge step aswell as we would be beating one of the traditional powers from one of the historic power conferences.  Basically if we can continue to win and improve every year the fan base will go.  Also remember that we have yet had a generation of kids who are raised as bulls. I think the 30yr mark will be when we start to enter into the prime of fan support if we dont have a national championship and mulitple national championships.. The reasoning behind this is we will have a few solid generations of fans that were bulls from the day they were born and spent their whole lifes fromt he time they could remember all the way through college at bulls football games.  Having literally life long fans like this are the keys to the big time fanbases that put 80-110.000 in a stadium every weekend.  We are still in our our infancy when it comes to developing a fanbase IMO.  The people that back the swamp, the big house, death valley and other great college stadiums every weekend arent casual fans they are die hards, the casual fans are the ones that watch at home when they dont have better things to do.  Building the die hard fanbase is the key to packing your house every weekend  IMO.

i have a theory, that as we continue to win, all of the secret USF alumni will creep out of their closests and come to the games, and fall in love.

we have momentum but... the UF NC will reenergize all homer gay-terd band wagoneers  for sometime  making it harder to get "casual (uf,fsu,um) fans" to switch alligence...

I disagree.  The success of UF will increase interest in college football, and I think will actually increase the casual fan base for USF in the area.  Once those fans get a dose of the game experience, they should be back for more, as USF games are much more entertaining to watch than the Bucs on Sunday.

I also am looking for record attendance this year.

record attendance this year.

UCF, UL, WVU, and Cincy at home, so there's definitely a great chance for that.

We need to be involved in some "big" games consistently.  If we go into November undefeated or with only 1 loss and we have UL, WVU and/or Rutgers with similar records people will come out to see the games.  As funny as it may seem, the local interest will grow as the national buzz grows.

Let's say we have the same schedule set up as last year, that is UL and WVU the last 2 games, if we are undefeated or with 1 loss and everyone around the country is talking about how big those games are you may actually see close to a sold out stadium.

At this point, it's not going to be about the quality of the team that will significantly turn the tide in interest.  It's going to be the importance of the games and how well we play in those games.

There was growing interest for Rutgers, but no where near sell out crowds until the Thursday night game vs. UL.  Th importance of that game threw them over the top.  There is a hell of a lot more to do in the NY/Philly market than in Tampa, but when that game became important and meant something, the team and program became very interesting and attracted fans that probably never had even heard of Rutgers football 3 weeks earlier.  Now they have to bring in temporay seating.

If USF wins then fans will show up for the BIG games thats the first stage of getting consistent fans, you keep winning then some of them will return for other games.

So if in 2007 we do as expected and are ranked and get a win vs Auburn i could see 50k+ vs UL and WV or even sell out if it comes to playing either of them the last week for the BE title.

Except for one year, we have had nothing but a winning record.  I sincerely Bullieve that we will get more fans in the stands as time goes on.  Yes, Tampa has a lot of "other" events taking place which tends to siphon off some attendance at Ray Jay.  Yes, there are a large amount of  UF and FSU hard core fans here.

This will be a defining year for the football program insofar as generating future fan base interest and tushes in the seats.

Leavitt and Company are doing a great job.  There is nothing left to say but GO BULLS!!!!

We all need to do our part and talk about USF BULLS all of the time. It is such an exciting time for us right now and enthusiasm is contagious so let's start an epidemic ALL FOR USF BULLS! We have 8 season tickets and attend every home game and several away games each season. We already have our calendars set for football!  Can hardly wait for the Spring Game!

I believe that if we beat Auburn, it will set the tone for the season and it will be VERY good.

Yes, if we beat Auburn it will definitely put us on the map, but we still need fans in the stands and supporters to be sporting green and gold whenever possible.
