This is Texas Tech’s AD and the chairman of the CFP. He’s has been vocal about pointing out how G5 teams win’s are not equal to P5’s wins when comparing win-loss records. He’s the reason why USF and c can’t even be ranked fairly or particate in the CFP. Hopefully he’s eating some crow today.

Doubt we will be ranked heading into next season but we will be receiving votes. Got to keep winning. That GT game will be big.

Two thoughts on this thread:

1) Ranking - as faulty as the rankings are, it's always good to be ranked entering the season to stay in the conversation.  It doesn't mean matter much more than that but we need to stay in the conscience of the voters

2) Just thinking about how the importance of the GT game is growing and combining that with the thought of their triple option/flexbone run game against our linebacker "light" defense.  Defending option offenses has been tough for us historically as we often have lacked the depth.

I think it matters to recruits too. Although we only have about eight spots open, it can’t hurt for those considering USF in Feb. 

In terms of GT, we should start practicing against that option day 1. Can you imagine if we had a navy on the schedule too?

Yep, being ranked 100% matters to recruits. The combination of head coach, Conference, ranking, city, academics, and ability to become a pro are all things that differentiate. The big thing that is holding us back now from getting the 4-Star guys is Conference, especially since we have ticked the boxes on all the rest.

Awesome. Harlan is a real cool dude. Spoke with him last season about the gators return game and he said something along the lines of calling them chicken **** for buying out of the game lol.
