As weak as the Miami fan base is, it's much better than the rays. http://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance

Awful attendance for both teams but that being said Miami did average 5k more butts in the seat a game.

You can’t be ******* serious. And I’m not talking about attendance numbers, I’m talking legitimate fans. I see more Rays shirts, hats, flags, etc. in Tampa on a regular basis than I ever saw in my entire life living in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.

But since you brought it up, solid work selling 5k more in a metro area with 2.5 million more people (not actually attending, though). Not to mention, congrats on averaging 16k a game during those two WS runs that really galvanized the community.

For sake of comparison, the Rays had better attendance in 2008 than any year in the history of the Marlins franchise.

As accurate as the numbers he was using to try and make his point.

Here’s an interesting take ranking fan bases in the MLB. Taking account of market size, ticket prices, and social media following, the Marlins have the worst fan base in baseball.

Miami sports fans only show their allegiance when their team is winning.
