Ereck was a wonderful young man. I saw him play several times in HS.   UCF certainly screwed up in the loss of his life.  The fact that other schools have as well, as in Cal, which happened after the EP tragedy, is doubly  horrific IMO.

The Supreme  Court determined the 200 K amount, not UCF, although they certainly wanted that to happen, or better said, their insurance carrier.

The Supreme Court affirmed, holding that UCFAA was entitled to limited sovereign immunity under Fla. Stat. 768.28 because it primarily acts as an instrumentality of the state. Remanded for entry of a judgment corresponding to the jury’s award of damages but limiting UCFAA’s liability to $200,000.

**** you. Why do you make it so impossible to hate you as a UCFer?

His defense of  UCF in this situation helps make it a little more possible ... From a recent article comparing the FSU/Darling situation to the one in Oveido:

The thing is, FSU gave up the fight years ago. It supported the Darling family’s quest through the legislative swamp.

That brings us to Ereck Plancher. He died March 18, 2008, during offseason football drills at UCF.

From that day forward UCF has fought the Planchers. Legally, the school’s appeals have often been on solid ground.

But there is doing what’s legal and doing what’s right. In the wake of the Darling family finally getting relief, you wish Enock and Giselle Plancher could have the same feeling.

I know. But he did say it was the outcome UCF wanted, too.

Deflecting to the insurance carrier, after blaming the amount on the Supreme Court .... in response to your comment that $200,000 is what UCF thinks a life is worth.  May not be his intentions but sure sounds like he's trying to argue your point.

Yeah, the "better said" seems like he's passing it off onto the insurance guys.

It took UCF 32 years to progress past the C-USA, we did it in 8.

Also, 3-5 in bowl games, which includes losses to Nevada and Arkansas State, doesn't seem like the kind of Winner I want to be.

And don't bring up Baylor, everyone knows those players were way ore concerned about the things they were going to do that night in Miami.

Man, I could go full blown Kanigit on that post but only thing I will say is that the Baylor game was in Glendale, AZ not Miami ...

Fair point, less opportunity in Glendale, Although there is still plenty of trouble to get into there.

And what do you want to attack the fact they started their program in 1979 and joined the American in 2011?

Or the bowl record?

Dude, they're 13-0 right now. The last thing I'd want to critique at this time is any on the field results. As far as conference affiliation goes, all that matters right now is that we're both at the same level ..... and I hate you like poison for drawing that out of me. :hippy2:
