If there ever was a time USF could make a landmark hire, Pitino would be that guy (nothing against our current coaches - Pitino is Pitino). Pitino may be knee deep in scandals, but his coaching record speaks for itself. Since 1978, he has had one losing season and one .500 season... two non-appearances, four NIT appearances, one ineligible on his watch, two ineligible due to sanctions prior to assuming the coaching role and 21 NCAA appearances.

From the anti-America ESPN site:

"If a school, come April, comes to me in Miami and says, 'We believe you. We believe you were innocent,' I would give it a shot," Pitino said. "I don't care about the money, the salary.

You're right about that but right now I feel like it would attract all the wrong kinds of attention. Especially AFTER we just managed to clear an NCAA probe with no real issues.

It's kinda taking the good with the bad. FAU hired Lane Kiffin and the guy has been the second coming for that school. Hell, every time Lane tweets, he makes me want to come to the FAU. Pitino has that type of demonic presence.

Of course he doesn't care about the money. He has outside income from shoe companies and agents that dwarf his salary.

Doesn't matter how good you are at your craft, a non-negotiable leadership tenet is integrity.  He has none and has a track record to prove it.

If he doesn't care about the money he should volunteer and coach youth teams.

Hell the Heat could use all the coaching help they can get.

We must be at our bottom....  suggesting we hire a coach under investigation by the FBI with multiple run-ins with the NCAA.  I knew it was bad, but not this bad.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
