Well, the UCF O sure scored 49 points. UConn scored 24, and 7 of that was in garbage time.

And it's unfair to say that UCF has played nobody (yes, this is a USF fan defending your team). You won two road games against the AAC west and boat raced Memphis at home.

I honestly want USF to win this game, it means too much. It's the first relevant game in a long time. Here's the issue-UCF wins this year, they win the conference championship, then they win a NY6 bowl, next year UCF is ranked in the top 15 going into the season. USF will not be ranked in the preseason next year.

Maybe, maybe not. The Coach Strong love is strong, especially among the blue blood writers. I threw out to close friends, that Charlie would have two head scratching losses this year, I was wrong. He is good for USF IMO.

I would be a lot more confident in a USF win if the defense didn't give up 28 to Houston in the second half and the coaches didn't show such poor game management. Houston has been good but inconsistent and the stars aligned and they beat us.

In terms of the match-up I think USF has the advantage with Strongs style of offense. Being the stronger rushing team and rushing defense combined with our high number of interceptions. Most often the team wins that can run the ball and stops the other team from running and that trend favors USF. It's exactly why Temple me FSU beat us last year as well. We had the high powered offense like UCF does but then Temple me FSU just run all over our defense and contain Flowers. It comes down to our defense's ability to force errors and stoping the run.

When our defense shows up we win handily. When they don't show up we lose, see 2nd half vs. Houston.

Added info, in USF's favor.

Scoring D, USF #23, UCF #29. Scoring  D is the real metric IMO.

The  one thing I  don't is how often late in games the #1's play for USF. For UCF, they have given up many late game clean up time scores.

Scoring offense, in UCF's favor, but like you said, no real D oriented opponents for UCF.

ding ding. UCF has played 2s in the 2nd half much longer than USF this year bc of all the blowouts
