GAME DAY vs Cincinnati USF returns to Raymond James Stadium after a bye week to face its third AAC East Division foe of 2017. USF is 11-1 all-time vs. East Division opponents (divisions were created in 2015) and has won its last two meetings with Cincinnati, including a 65-27 win in 2015 in Tampa. With a win, USF would equal the best start (6-0) in program history. HOMECOMING: USF is 11-9 in Homecoming games, winning the last two – including a 45-24 win over Syracuse in 2015 that marked a turning point for the program and began the current run of 23 wins in 27 games. AAC ON RISE: USF (18/15) is one of three AAC teams in the Top 25 polls – joined by UCF (22/21) and Navy (25/24). That is tied with the SEC and is one behind the ACC, Big 12 and Pac 12 for number of ranked teams. The three AAC teams are among 17 that remain unbeaten in FBS football. ON AN AAC ROLL: USF is 15-3 in AAC games over the last three seasons and has won six straight AAC games overall and eight straight AAC home games, last falling to Memphis (24-17) on Oct. 2, 2015 – a span of two years. MOST SUCCESSFUL ERA: USF’s record 10-game win streak is the second longest nationally (Clemson, 11). USF’s 23 wins over 27 games mark the winningest period in program history and among the top four nationally. 30-POINT SCORING STREAK: USF has scored 30 or more points in 22 straight games, the longest active streak in the nation and one game from equaling the longest such streak in the AP Poll (1936) era, (Oregon, 23, 2011-12). GROUND GAME: USF is ranked in the Top 10 in both rushing yards (5th) and rushing defense (2nd) in the NCAA statistics. Only Alabama is better against the run and the Bulls and Crimson Tide are the only teams ranked in the Top 10 of both statistical categories. This will be the first game I've been to in a while. Used to never miss games but with two kids in daycare (costs more per month than my mortgage!) and wife, until recently, out of work, we haven't been able to afford going to games. We've saved up and we'll be there wearing our Green and Gold today!

After losing its first-ever Homecoming game on Oct. 18, 1997, USF reeled off six Homecoming wins in a row. Since then though, they Bulls never won more than two straight. This is the second time Cincinnati has been USF's Homecoming opponent. The first was back on Oct. 31, 2003 in a Conference USA matchup. The Bulls won, 24-17, in double overtime, in a game sealed by an interception by Lee Roy Selmon, Jr. That 2003 game was the first meeting between USF and Cincinnati. The teams have been in three conferences together over the years; Conference USA, the Big East, and now The American. The series, which Cincinnati leads, 8-6, includes a very rare Sunday night game, won by the Bearcats at Nippert Stadium on Oct. 22, 2006. The Bulls have won the last two meetings, and three of the last four. The last time the teams met in Tampa (Nov. 20, 2015), the Bulls scored 51 first half points on the way to a 65-27 win. This game marks the 11th anniversary of a road 37-20 win over North Carolina on Oct. 14, 2006. The Bulls lost on the road to West Virginia on Oct. 14, 2010, making them 1-1 on this date.
