They should just cancel all college football expect the SEC, ACC, Big 10 and PAC 12.  Maybe a few teams in the Fake Big 12.

Which is why I always root for chaos (like ISU over OU) in those conferences. I prefer USF, UCF, SDSU to stay undefeated, and for as many of those other programs to lose as many games as possible. I want the entire SEC to be .500

And unfortunately the Presidents/AD's of all of the other schools (especially the "G5") are too busy kissing those school's and ESPN"s butts to do anything about it.

Agree 100%. Half the "P5" teams would be booted out of their conferences if it wasn't for the buyout money and lawsuits.

USF should get in if they run the table. AAC schools matter

That's the tragedy of 2007. Because of chaos we made it to #2. Win out and USF plays for the NC. Of course in a BCS eligible conference.

The system has been this way forever. (Taking out the fact that we were once in a BCS conference) the Mid-Majors/non-BCS/G-5 have always had the advantage.

I'd argue a team with a loaded schedule out of conference could have a shot of crashing the party.

Also, there will be a day of expansion, and the G5 will get its place at the table. That's why they're not burning bridges now.

Finally, It didn't seem to bother anyone when we were in the BCS...

We know which those teams are.  Watch how the talking heads downplay the big 12 as soon as Texas or Oklahoma loses.  They want the biggest names for ratings and cash.

8. Two Group of 5 teams -- USF and San Diego State -- will finish undefeated and out in the cold

In a weird way, I think TWO G5 undefeated teams is actually worse than one. The powers-that-be would be unable to choose between them and decide to leave them both out, because they certainly wouldn't invite both in.

IMO, the G5 will one day get in the top 4, and the first G5 rep in the CFP will come in a year with only ONE undefeated G5, not two.

It wasn't long ago that IMHO....Houston had a real chance to crash the playoffs but they self-destructed.  They had the big win,  pretty good schedule and I think they were ranked #6.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
