I thought that deserved its own thread. Anyway, I see a scenario where San Diego State will be ranked this week, not too far behind us. It is reasonable that SDSU will run the table. They play Boise State at home in 4 weeks and play at Air Force this weekend. The rest of the schedule should be fairly easy SDSU wins. SDSU has two P5 conference wins (Stanford and at Arizona State). The Mountain West is arguably more top heavy than the AAC. SDSU's division is garbage (even worse than the AAC East) and the play only Boise among decent teams in the other division. So, has USF lost the ability to control it's own destiny? If SDSU and USF both run the table which G5 Conference Champion will be ranked higher? Style points will mean everything from here going forward and USF has no margin for error.

We could be close to top 15 at this point and might not even be brought up.

I honestly don't think USF had much control over its own destiny to begin with. All they can do is win, but their fate isn't really up to them. Still a lot of football left though

If both teams indeed go undefeated (slim to none chances there though), how we played two cupcakes vs SDSU beating two solid P5 programs wouldn't matter. Our schedule just sucks, so you can say this about quite a few other G5 teams. It's all fantasy at this point...as Apis said, lots of football still to be played. We control our own destiny with the conference championship--THAT should be the goal.

Last year a good San Diego State team lost to South Alabama, they could always trip up to one of their "fairly easy wins".
