Not sure how many views this sub-forum gets but worth a shot I guess.

I recently bought a Chromecast and every night the frequency switches from 2.4 to 5, which Chromecast does not work on. This forces me to factory reset every day which is quite annoying.

Anyone encounter this issue before? I have gone into my Wi-Fi router via my IP address but  I do not see an option to force select or change frequency.

Thanks for any help BullsPen!

I've never had any issues with my Chromecast. What brand of router do you have? Mine has two frequencies, one for computing and one for streaming and they are named accordingly.

If you have a D-link, this might help:

This may also help on the Google side, regardless of router:

I changed the names of my 2.4 and 5 frequencies that way my devices stopped auto switching. I made my 2.4 my guest WiFi and 5 my standard. Devices never tried to switch between networks causing connectivity issues again.

Thanks all. I had to go in and disable my 5 and re-setup my chromecast. This seems to have done the trick as I haven't had problems since.
