Heisman Watch: 12 Dark Horse Heisman Trophy Candidates for 2017

By Bryan Fischer, 8/16/17, 11:00 AM EDT

2.

1. Quinton Flowers, QB, South Florida

Poor Charlie Strong could barely figure out things at quarterback during his tenure at Texas but the veteran head coach will have no such issues at his new home in South Florida considering how good the Bulls’ signal-caller was as the most recent AAC Offensive Player of the Year. Flowers has improved his passing significantly each season and it’s not a stretch to think a campaign of more than 3,000 yards and 30 TDs through the air is in the cards. Add in another 1,500-yard rushing season like he just had and this year’s version of Lamar Jackson may be wearing green and gold.

The hype is real. Hope Q can ignore it and have a monster season.

Its funny you say that because when I saw him on Bayshore Blvd after the end of the Gasparilla parade, I told him (and Auggie/DJ) good luck this year and then told him go get that Heisman.

I actually thought about it later and felt like, " I hope I just wasn't one more of many that are putting that pressure on him".   Not that my one statement by itself is too much pressure but I'm sure he hears it all the time.  One thing about Quinton is that it seems like if anyone can handle pressure, its him because of the strength.  20170128_160316_resized.thumb.jpg.ef276019c8c80cce01b268688a9ef3f4.jpg

I think QF can put aside all the noise and remain focused on the task at hand...winning one game at a time.

Man am I the only one that wants to see Auggie kickass and make it as a lunch pail guy in the league? He looks like he's having fun!

It's been fun watching Auggie grow. I still remember his freshman year well as he played a ton.

Niiice!!! Sweet pics! You're too right about that, everyone and I mean everyone must be telling him to kill it this season. I feel that he's locked and focused though.

Dude's a hard worker.  I'm skeptical that he's going to be able to make it in the league, but I'd love it if he'd surprise me.

I don't know, if BJ can hang on this long then I like Q's chances.

We were talking about Auggie.

I definitely think Q's athleticism could lead to him being in the NFL for a few years.
