Student turnout needs to be much better then last year.

Wrong scapegoat. The students are decent to mediocre at turning out consistently. The rest of the attendance is the issue.

Decent to mediocre turn outs for a team on an 18-4 run puts the scapegoat squarely on the students also .... with an accessory charge going to USF for not doing enough to get them there. Most students only have 4 years to experience the awesomeness of supporting their school's athletic teams. They need to have this hammered into their sotted skulls as much as possible. I understand USF does try a lot of gimmicks but obviously need more, or different ones .... and I fully understand that there are tons of students that will never have an interest in attending sports but I think there are also tons that just don't know they have an interest and need to be enlightened.

But we're not talking about real fans here. It's trying to get the ones that don't go to games because of all the other excuses that are out there.

The famous 2007 Friday night game against WVU is a great example of a night that brought out a ton of the bandwagon fans.  Not sure we would have had that many if it were a day game in early September.

Winning will bring butts no matter the heat. Please don't say "last year didn't bring them." There was no hype or expectations then. I think we will start the year with more butts than last year and as the season progresses we will have increasingly more. Some of those might even become bandwagon fans.

I think we're on the same page. Last year did bring them and the OP is wondering about them coming back.  And I'm saying that many, if not most, of those won't be back at the first home game due to the daytime start and the expected heat that comes with it.

If there are less fans at this opener than last year, I have to blame it on the daytime start.

And yes - as winning goes up, so does the tolerance for heat.

schedule is too weak early; however, if we are undefeated late in the season, I can see the turds filling the punchbowl

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
