That's definitely a possible nice reward for winning the reg season title ...

Allso, with both FSU and Miami out of the picture for hosting, it improves our chances:

Perennial hosting sites like Miami and Tallahassee (FSU) look like sites that will be skipped over for hosting in 2017. That leaves Florida (in Gainesville) as the only team in Florida to host, perhaps opening the door for USF."

I suppose that the NCAA would prefer a second Florida site for a regional, considering how many state schools will be playing in one. This way, they wouldn't have to travel so far.

Good chance we would host as of now. I think we're a hosting lock if we beat UF tonight, although UF would likely still host their own games-they have a larger stadium than we do. They could do the north florida schools in Gainesville and everything south of I-4 in Tampa. So UCF, FGCU, and Miami (no idea if they'll get in) would play in Tampa, and FSU, UF, and UNF (who would probably get an autobid as the Atlantic sun champion)  would be up in Gainesville.

I assume you mean we'd be a lock if we win tonight AND win the conference regular season and tournament. Otherwise, I don't share your optimism. A fringe top 25 USF from the AAC without a conference championship isn't getting one of the 16 regional sites. And UF is absolutely hosting, not because of the size of heir stadium, but because they're a national seed as of right now.

Winning the conference isn't a paramount but no guarantee of hosting; beat the Gators in midweek action and win the conference and it's hard to pass them up. Either way it's exciting! Would love to see another home game or two.

"...Also, while the American Athletic Conference is a very good baseball conference, it’s not a power conference, meaning that they’d almost surely have to win the league to bolster their case."

What a tool, with his head up his rear.

The AAC is a power conference in every sport except football (and its associated TV money)

Rank    RPI    Conference
1    0.5752    Big 12
2    0.5669    SEC
3    0.5592    ACC
4    0.5568    Pac 12
5    0.5486    American Athletic
6    0.5299    Conference USA
7    0.5269    Big Ten
8    0.5168    Big West
9    0.5061    Sun Belt
10    0.5051    Big East
