At the moment USF is all alone in first place in the AAC. USF has eight remaining games all on the road with 6 of those games being conference games (at UConn and at UCF). This is where we find ouot how good this team can be. If they win the remaining two series that will be enough for them to win the conference title.

Current standings

USF 12-6 0.667 37-10 0.787
UCF 11-7 0.611 33-15 0.688
Houston 11-7 0.611 30-17 0.638
UConn 10-8 0.556 25-20 0.556
Tulane 10-8 0.556 23-26 0.469
Cincinnati 8-10 0.444 24-23 0.511
Memphis 6-12 0.333 25-23 0.521

Houston appears to have the inside track, as far as opponent quality remaining. It'll be a nail biter to finish the season.

Just winning the two series wouldn't be enough if Houston sweeps both of theirs.

Yeah it really stinks we had to lose the series' against Cincy and Tulane. C is right on our tails and we swept them! That last series in Orlando is going to be epic.

Correct.

But, if we won both, Houston would HAVE to sweep both, since we would have the tie breaker over them.

Given the favorable odds, I would take four out of six on the road NOW without ever playing.

Remaining Series with location of games:

USF - @UConn, @UCF

UCF - @Cincinnati  vs USF

Houston - @Tulane,  vs Cincinnati

UConn - vs USF,  vs East Carolina

Tulane - vs Houston, @Memphis

Cincinnati - vs UCF,  @Houston

Memphis - @East Carolina, vs Tulane

East Carolina - v Memphis, @UConn

Looking at current records and the way the conf tourney is set up, on paper, coming in 2nd or 3rd would get the easier bracket in the tournament, on paper, if played right now. I realize you want to win as much as you can for the NCAA resumé, but unless you get some kind of bling for winning the reg season conf title, it doesn't seem to be that bad not getting the #1 seed ..... of course, lot of ball to be played and if Cincy makes a little run, seeding probably won't really matter much because the top 6 teams may be all bunched together.

One thing though, how does the home team thing work in tournament? Is higher seed always the home team?

Every article I've read that discusses the possibility for USF  to host a regional stresses the importance for USF to win the reguar AAC conference title. Apparently, that is a major factor in determining whether a team hosts:

USF’s hosting chances are getting stronger by the week — that sweep of ECU this weekend was a big boost, because now the Bulls are all alone atop the conference standings. I still really like the 6-1 mark vs. top 50 and 16-7 record against the top 100. You’d like to see the RPI come up a bit — Southeast teams don’t usually host with RPIs in the 20s, and the Bulls are currently 23rd. But those last two series are both on the road against good clubs (UConn and UCF), so those are RPI boosters. If the Bulls keep playing well in those weekends and win the AAC regular-season title, I like their chances.

That's definitely a possible nice reward for winning the reg season title ...

Kendall Rogers:

Rob — Still potential with a Top 23 RPI, especially if the Bulls can win the American regular season title.

"...Also, while the American Athletic Conference is a very good baseball conference, it’s not a power conference, meaning that they’d almost surely have to win the league to bolster their case."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
