A med school near at Channelside brings a bunch of young professionals to the area. Which means they will frequent the shops and restaurants in the area. That beats a creepy channelside with no one walking around.

Vinik is not in the charity business; his companies found enough value in entering into these contracts with USF to make money. If we're better at the end of such contracts, then it;'s win-win. The med school being an anchor to his Strategic Property Partners/Vinik-ville redevelopment is just sharp business savvy.

He's gone all in on USF. While he's not T Boone Pickens, he can have the same effect. He sees the hidden value in the school and that can't be a bad thing.

I'm curious where Vinik graduated and if he donates//supports that school. It's one thing to build a partnership with the University and its' programs, but something entirely different to be a booster. I'm totally cool with the former however!
