TAMPA, APRIL 18, 2017 – USF Athletics shared in the excitement Tuesday as Tampa Bay won the bid for yet another premier sporting event when the NCAA announced the Bay Area as a host site for the 2020 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship First and Second Rounds.

March Madness in the form of the NCAA men’s tournament will come to Amalie Arena on March 19 and 21, 2020. The selection follows on the heels of the Bay Area hosting the 2015 NCAA Women’s Final Four and selection to host the 2019 NCAA Women’s Final Four at Amalie Arena, both involving USF in a major role.

“This is very exciting for the Bay Area and USF. We are so excited as a department to be able to engage our talented staff and resources in helping the Bay Area to continue to host premier national events.” USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan said. “The first-class events that our partners at the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and executive director Rob Higgins have been able to put on in our community, including last year’s magnificently run College Football Playoff National Championship, showcase our community to the nation. USF is committed to being a strong community partner and a part of these endeavors.”

As it was with the recent Women’s Final Four, USF Athletics will be heavily involved in conducting the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship First and Second Rounds in downtown Tampa, providing both guidance and resources in everything from event management, and media coordination to marketing and community involvement.

I love getting a chance to go to these things here .... but I doubt they'd put us here so I'll be traveling that year.

Urm, This year; Kansas played in Kansas City, South Carolina played in Greenville SC and Minnesota played in Milwaukee. Those are all home court advantage.

cue the next article down-playing USF's role, so that we're more like volunteer ambassadors than hosts. :GoBulls:

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
