"I've told the entire defense there's nobody that's solidified a spot," Jean-Mary said.

I think the biggest reason the defense sucked so bad last season was because Woodie was completely incompetent and had no idea as to what he was doing.  We broke a scoring record... two of them actually... the defense allowed more points than any other team in USF history.

Fix the schemes and angles and half the battle is won. The rotation  hardly matters if players aren't even doing the right thing to begin with.

While our DC may not have been great, he didn't miss one tackle last year.  Tackling is something that is taught since the 65 lb leagues.

PREACH IT!

I've said it hundreds of times before and I'll say it hundreds more times - HIT SOMEBODY!

The candyass two hand touch we used last year sucks. Knock somebody's jock sideways and then step on him when he tries to get up.

Hitting is part of the game but only as far as it helps you accomplish your goal of tackling.

Tackling is important as hell but if the scheme is off you put the players at a disadvantage.

Imagine they were in their goal line D every play.

I guess there is quite a bit of low hanging fruit for Charlie Strong.

I talked to one of the defensive walk ons about it last year and asked him if the defense took it easy because they knew the offense could score easily and he said that there was truth to that in his opinion.

That's totally insane if true.

Countless times last season at every positionn a defender was in place and just simply missed the tackle or took a bad angle and missed the opportunity.

Tackling is like rebounding in hoops.  Put yourself in position and get the ball. At point of contact it's about who wants it more.
