http://www.wctv.tv/content/news/FAMU-offers-head-coaching-job-to-USFs-Rod-Strickland-417339343.html

Rod Strickland, brought over from Kentucky by former coach Orlando Antigua, has been offered this position after rumors of his interest began a little over a week ago. This comes after the departure of Byron Samuels who seemed to leave on less than amicable terms with the program. Former Head Coach Byron Samuels left with a statement of facts defending his three year tenure at the school. With a handful of Antigua students left on the Bulls roster, he would seem to have little reason to stand pat here. Only time will tell.

LOL ....Shirley you're not casting aspersions at another basketball program right now.

Will be interesting to see if this does anything for Bibby if he gets the job. I think Strickland was a big reason he came here but I don't know if he would follow him to FAMU ...

USF MBB is not good now.  However, the upside is far beyond anything FAMU has ever done.  That's not a good job, but Rod has to make his own decisions.

Thank you for the welcome back.  I had to sort some things out and my hope is they are all put to rest.

Go Bulls!

There are 347 NCAA Div I basketball programs. The vast majority of them don't have the upside that USF does. The others all still have student athletes that are playing basketball, hopefully preparing themselves for a life outside of basketball, that need coaching/mentoring. To categorize those places as "purgatory" is pretty ridiculous.

It's a bad job.  I would think Rod can do better and you could argue his Asst. role here is light years ahead of the HC job at FAMU.

If offered, he'll make a decision that is best for him.

Go Bulls!

A HC gig at a D1 school is at least great resume material, even if it is FAMU. I say congrats to the guy and good luck with the Rattlers. Rod's had his battles, but battling back to a coaching position speaks well for him. I hope he can continue the upward move.

Lets also be honest here, Rod is currently out of work. I don't know if he needs to work (he did make good $$ as a player), but if he needs to work, then it is hard to turn down an offer like this.

Ex-Kentucky assistant without HC coaching experience. What's the worst that can happen? Oh wait...

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
