What's the most number of wins baseball has ever had in a regular season?  I'm thinking, barring injuries, we can get to 40-43 wins.

Warren Nolan predicts 46!

That seems high to me, because our last 8 games are on the road, beginning @UF and ending with a series @UCF.

Predictions

Record 46 - 10
Conf Record 19 - 5

RPI 13
SOS

86

This is one of the best clubs we have had. 40 sounds right

I believe the most total wins for a complete season is: 1986 52-16 Sun Belt

Just a reminder, USF was picked by the AAC coaches to finish 6th this season!

American Athletic Conference
Preseason Coaches’ Poll
School Pts
1. East Carolina (6) 48
2. Houston (1) 42
3. Tulane (1) 35
4. UConn 30
5. Cincinnati 22
6. USF 21
7. UCF 13
Memphis 13

USF is off to a great OOC start (23-3), but we have only played two road games (W 4-2 @FSU and L 2-1 @FGCU).

So, the series @ [underperforming] Tulane will be a good road test for our team. If we can win two of three there, I would consider it a success. A sweep would likely get us ranked in some more polls.

Thankfully, we get to play our two toughest conference opponents, ECU and Houston, at home.

Our stellar pitching  and defense should be able to keep us in most games. Even though our batting average is very good, our mediocre home run power could be a disadvantage against Tulane this weekend.

Home runs
---------
1. Tulane.............. 26
   East Carolina....... 26
3. UCF................. 23
4. USF................. 19
   Memphis............. 19
6. Houston............. 16
7. Cincinnati.......... 13
8. UConn............... 7

From here on out winning 2 out of 3 each weekend would be the goal.  Tulane isn't having a great year record wise but they will still be a tough test.  They recently just beat LSU, so they do have it in them.  Gotta win the Friday game first.  It all starts there.  Also, no midweek game this week so we can throw all of our arms at them if need be.

So we start conference play against Tulane who are currently in last and just beat #6 LSU. Do we sweep?

When you get to conference play, the goal is always 2 out 3. You go 16-8 in conference and you have the #1 seed. We have 6 more non-conference games. Florida, FGCU, Stetson two more times, North Florida, and Jacksonville. Figure we drop 2-3 of those. 42-14 (16-6) probably gets us the #1 seed in the conference tourney, no worse than #2. Definitely a regional appearance based on that even if we don't win the conference tournament. If we finish #1 regular season AND win the tournament finishing about 46-14, that would be tough to not give us an overall top 16 seed and hosting a regional. Obviously, this is all best case scenario.

"We made the decision to play a doubleheader based on information we received from the university, and now that the weather forecast has changed, we have adjusted accordingly."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
