I really can't fault MH for Masiello. That was pretty much all on Masiello.

Did we have the ubiquitous search firm handling that? If so it's all on them.

Well at least we can offer playing time (probably instant starting position at this point). I bet recruiting is going to be rough....

All depends on what exactly the search firm's responsibilities were. If part of those responsibilities was to do a thorough background check, vetting the resume completely on each candidate, it would fall to them.

Fitts hasn't said anything on Twitter and his bio still says USF on it;  if that's to be a believabull form of info.

Also it's not the AD's job to check the validity of someone's degree from their resume. That's all on Masiello. Unless I'm misremembering, that process went fairly SOP. An offer was made and upon accepting,a background check then occurs before the position is finalized. And I bet that fact cost him a lot of other opportunities, too.

Ah, but there you could have had the ole double negative = positive algebraic equation come into play .... bad (coach) + bad (program) = good (team). It always comes down to the math .... He couldn't have done much worse.

For Sure...

Almost NO Florida recruits... basketball is supposed to be quicker to turnaround that football...

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
