After scoring runs in the first and second innings, the Bulls (19-1) loaded the bases with one gone in the third inning. A single brought in another run to make it 3-0, as the bags were still juiced. Junior David Villar (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) stepped into the box and lofted a 2-0 count over the right field fence and off the scoreboard for a grand slam to blow the game open, making it 7-0. The Crimson plated runs in the fourth and sixth innings, but USF responded with four more in the bottom of the sixth to make it 12-2. The hosts would score two in the eighth to secure its largest margin of victory this year, 14-2. Key Stats Villar went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a personal-best five RBI. Sophomore Coco Montes (Miami) went 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Junior Duke Stunkel Jr. (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), sophomore Joe Genord (Lake Worth, Fla.) and classmate Tyler Dietrich (Naples, Fla.) all had two hits apiece with a combined four runs scored and three RBI. Freshman Collin Sullivan (Randolph, Mass.) walked four, but gave up just one hit in his first career start, going 2.0 innings. Classmate Noah Yager (Davie, Fla.) logged three inning, gave up just one run and struck out three, as he earned his third victory of the season. Notables The Bulls’ 18-game winning streak is the second longest in program history and the second-longest active streak in the nation, behind Missouri and Louisville. The Bulls tallied at least 13 hits for the seventh time in the last nine games and plated double-digit men for the fifth time this season. Villar’s grand slam was the first for USF since April 14, 2015 when senior Luke Borders (Winter Park, Fla.) did so against Stetson. The aforementioned Borders went 1-for-2 with a run, a RBI and two walks. He has reached base safely in all 20 games this season. The USF bullpen pitched perfect seventh, eighth and ninth innings with five combined strikeouts. Up Next The Bulls conclude their 17-game homestand with the first of five games this week when they host North Florida Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.

What a gorgeous day for baseball. Villar's slam to the opposite field was a line drive - didn't seem to need help from the wind blowing out that way. Left early to catch up on the NCAA games I was recording.

It's been a very long home stand. We haven't been away from home in weeks. Even FGCU isn't that far away, which you appreciate on the second day of a back to back. I hope they're ready to be tested again, great opportunity to move up in the RPI this week if we can take at least 4 of 5.
