Carrozza, Robinson Shine at Day One of Bulls Invitational
USF also swept the women’s pole vault


TAMPA, MARCH, 17, 2017 – The University of South Florida track and field team began the 2017 outdoor season by hosting the Bulls Invitational on Friday.
On day one of the event, senior Mira Carrozza (Pittsburgh) won the women’s javelin (144-6). The result was one foot shy of passing per personal best (145-4 in 2014).


Sophomore Bruce Robinson (Little Falls, N.Y.) placed second in the men’s hammer (184-07). His distance was the third best in program history.
In the heptathlon, sophomore Mikeia Pooler (Orange City, Fla.) won the 100 meter hurdles (14.83) and high jump (5-5.75). Her 3019 points on day one put her in first place for the event. The long jump, javelin, and 800 meter dash will take place on Saturday.

•    The Bulls set two top 10 USF marks (one male, one female).
 

Notables
•    Junior Ashley Wilson (Tampa) notched the seventh best women’s hammer in program history (174-4).
•    The Bulls swept the women’s pole vault. Sophomores Stephanie Lambeth (Frankenmuth, Mich.) and Nicole Carroll (Land O’Lakes, Fla.) finished first and second. Sophomore Amanda Sinkler (Mukwonago, Wisc.) and junior Jamie Brenner (Oviendo, Fla.) tied for third.

USF posts pair of wins, five all-time program marks on Day Two of Bulls Invitational
The Bulls recorded victories in the 4x100 m women’s relay and the heptathlon


TAMPA, MARCH, 18, 2017 – The University of South Florida track and field team completed the 2017 Bulls Invitational on Saturday with two event victories in the 4x100m women’s relay and the heptathlon and five top 10 marks in program history.


Day two began on the track with USF claiming first in the women's 4x100m relay. The team of Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville, Fla.), Jada Massie (Bradenton, Fla.), Krysten Golden (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), and Shenica Bazile (Naples, Fla.) won with a time of 45.86, seventh best in program history.


Sophomore Mikeia Pooler (Orange City, Fla.) then displayed a strong showing over the long jump, triple jump, and 800m dash events to win the heptathlon. Pooler’s 4,672 points moved her into fifth place on the USF record board.


Beginning her final outdoor season at USF, senior Melissa Westmoreland (Jupiter, Fla.) finished runner-up in the 3k steeplechase with a time of 11:09.78, sixth best in program history.


Fellow senior Khadeeja Dooling (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) placed third in the 100m hurdles. The 13.93 posting was seventh best at USF.

•    The Bulls achieved six, top 10 USF marks (five female) during the Bulls Invitational.
Notables
•    Sophomore Raekwon Scott (DeLand, Fla.) placed second in the 110m hurdles (14.88).
•    Jada Massie and Chelsea Francis finished second and third in the 100m dash.
•    Francis also placed second in the 200m dash (24.45).
•    Sophomores David Bell (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Joe Fogarasi (Columbia, Conn.) finished second and third in the pole vault.
•    Senior Tierra Lacey (Hollywood, Fla.) placed second in the women’s triple jump.
Next Up
The Bulls will travel southeast to compete in the Miami Invitational on Saturday, March 25.
