6 year deal? That is pretty solid.

I was thinking they might have to go 7 even...What's the comp component?  Quick search did not reveal..

We're putting a lot of stock in him, hope he's able to bring us up out of this pit. Go Bulls!

I get it. Whoever we hire has to know we're committed to the long haul turnaround. If not in actual time, it has to be financially.

After the last two firings, that was probably key with any new hire.

Exactly. That was probably the first thing discussed. No one is going to take us at our word that we're committed, put your money where your mouth is.

Jim Calhoun and John Calipari are not coming back.  Temple has only been really good playing in the A10.  The AAC is a slightly better league than the A10 and I don't see it getting any better.  It's a 2-3 bid league, maybe 4 in a really good year.

Could get better if Wichita State joins us.

Temple and UConn have excellent classes coming in.

Look at this class: https://connecticut.rivals.com/commitments/basketball/2017

With Cincinnati and SMU winning around 30 games this year, when you figure in a full scholarship roster at UConn, Memphis, Temple, UCF... and when you understand that Haith had a team full of Freshmen this year at Tulsa, and both Houston and UCF made the NIT this year with very thin rosters, this conference is going to be stacked in short order.

It's foolish to think that UConn (after winning two National Championships in the last 6 years) is going to stay down. Not when they're still signing Top 50 dudes.

Mid majors don't have that pedigree. This is a major conference, and to treat it otherwise would be to the peril of the Bulls. (that's with or without Wichita). Anyone who has watched the Mustangs and the Bearcats will tell you. That kind of talent doesn't play in the A10.

Most people who follow the AAC understand that the conference had less than half a handful of teams playing with a full allotment of used scholarships. All of those teams you criticized had no depth.

The Bulls wont have the luxury of playing the 2017 versions of the rest of the conference.

If Temple was only really good playing in the A10, then logic would say the AAC has been a significant step up from the A10 for them. They are recruiting a much higher caliber athlete now. Dunphy is getting guys in this years class that didn't give him a sniff in the A10. Its an outstanding class.

That tells me that few "quality coaches" wanted this job. Gregory was willing to do it, if he was provided the time. He certainly got it. We're also paying Antigua and Heath to not coach here next season. Thankfully, Gregory still gets paid some money from GaTech, so that helps offset his costs for a few seasons.
