Because that hasn't worked out for WBB.

foreign players are pretty common in women's basketball.

Villanova players averages just 81 miles from campus to hometown. they have no foreign born players. 10 of their players are from penn, NJ, MD, or NY. furthest is from Illinois

At risk of full board rebuke and rejection, it's lazy and inefficient. I'd rather we do the work to find athletes in the region.

Don't know how you can call it lazy to scour the world for recruits. Inefficient I can understand from an economical standpoint but bottom line is you go where you think you can get the players. The best year in the history of the program had 1 scholarship player from Florida.

It doesn't matter where you recruit, it's getting them into the program, eligible and successful while HERE. The problem with xCOA is his players never made it to to campus; and when they did some had eligibility problems or team rule violations.

I've been a 'nova fan pretty much all my life. They are Villanova, not USF.  They've recruited against the Big 5 Schools all that time. Why can't Univ of Penn, LaSalle and St Joe's get those same recruits?  Temple does pretty well vs 'nova in recruiting.

Univ of Miami has 2 FL players on its roster and 2 international.  http://www.hurricanesports.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=28700&SPID=103777&SPSID=658436

Gators have 4 from FL and 2 international  http://floridagators.com/roster.aspx?path=basketball-men&

FSU has 5 from FL and 4 from outside the country.  http://www.seminoles.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPID=157128&SPSID=917092&DB_OEM_ID=32900

When do we trade names and men's b-ball teams with fgc?

I doubt there's any scouring of the world. It's being aware of their top club or league players.  This can be done on internet.

If we are basically going to act like a pro team some will be attracted to it   Others will turn off to it.

fgcu has 11 from florida. 4 of their top 5 scorers are from Florida..1 foreign. I'd say we are closer to them then we are FSU or UF.

I'm not opposed to foreign players, I just don't think they should be our primary focus.

I understand we won't get the top recruits in our area like Villanova does but we are not competing against Villanova.

We are competing against UCF who has 9 FL players on their roster. 3 of their top 4 scorers are from Orlando

Hopefully the new guy can start to do that.  I'm doubting it but fingers are crossed.

good news is GTech has 3 of top 4 scorers and 7 overall from their state this year as well as 9 overall with all top 5 scorers from their state last year. shows he likes to recruit locals

personally I think that is the best way to build a program such as ours. keep it local and get a group of guys that grow together and maybe make a run as juniors/seniors.
