TAMPA, MARCH 4, 2017 – The University of South Florida men’s basketball team concludes the regular season with a Sunday afternoon showdown against Temple.

The Bulls enter the season finale off one of their best defensive performances of the season. USF yielded just 59 points to UCF on Thursday night in a three-point loss. Sophomore guard Troy Holston(Queens, N.Y.) tallied a team-high 14 points. Freshman forward Malik Fitts (11) and redshirt freshman forward Tulio Da Silva (10) both also scored double figure points. Junior center Ruben Guerrero (Spain) compiled six points, 10 rebounds, and a season-high five blocks.

Temple won the prior meeting, an 83-74 home victory against USF (2/5) despite a career-high 25 points from redshirt junior guard Geno Thorpe(Pittsburgh). The Bulls netted 51 points in the second half and nearly erased a 27-point deficit.

Da Silva has 193 rebounds at USF and needs six more to pass John Egbunu (2013-14) for the most rebounds by a freshman in program history.

The Opponent

Temple enters the regular season finale fresh off an 82-76 double overtime, Senior Day victory over Tulane (2/25). The win ended a three-game losing streak. Sophomore guard Shizz Alston Jr. totaled 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists to fuel the Owls’ win.
