Three Bulls posted double figure points in the team’s last game at Tulane (2/18). Junior guard Geno Thorpe (Pittsburgh) tallied a team-high 22 points as redshirt freshman forward Tulio Da Silva (Brazil) added 17 points and sophomore forward Luis Santos (Bronx, N.Y.) registered a career-high 16 points. Thorpe is averaging 20 points per game over the last five contests for USF. The Opponent Tulsa has lost six straight games, including an 80-60 defeat against No. 18 Cincinnati (2/18). The losing skid has moved the Golden Hurricane into seventh in the conference standings. Tulsa was projected to finish ninth in The American’s preseason coaches’ poll. On the stat sheet, Tulsa leads the American in free throw percentage (.725). Junior Etou ranks first on the team in points (12.6) and rebounds (7.0) per game. The Golden Hurricane have won all four meetings in the series with USF. The teams last met in the Sun Dome on Jan. 17. Junior center Ruben Guerrero (Spain) recorded a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Notables The Bulls are shooting 36 percent on three-pointers, fifth-best in The American. USF is third in conference play with 11.3 offensive rebounds per game. Guard Geno Thorpe ranks first in The American in free throw percentage (.862), fourth in assists per game (4.4), fifth in steals per game (1.5), and eighth in scoring (14.7). Junior center Ruben Guerrero (Spain) has 111 blocks at USF, seventh-most in program history. He needs two more blocks to pass Toarlyn Fitzpatrick (2009-13) for sixth place at USF. The Bulls have used 14 different starting lineups this season, fifth most in Division 1 men’s basketball. (Chicago State and Evansville, 16). This season, USF is one of four NCAA Division I teams with no seniors on its roster. The other three are Bradley, Penn State and UT-Rio Grande Valley. Only thing that can be said is Murray at least makes decisions what truely is best for the program. De Silva benched, biby out Bo questionable but looks to be out hurt ankle in first 2 minutes.
