Just so there's no confusion, the Willard Mike's referring to is Kevin Willard's father, who is the associate head coach at Louisville ...

Yes! The son, Kevin got a DUI while on Pitino's staff at Louisville.  That pretty much at the time eliminated Kevin for consideration for USF. As you know, it was not the USF way at the time which is why we passed on Huggins & Pearll

The Pitino angle is what i heard as well.  Willard looked into the Holy Cross job last year, so he is definitely looking for a good landing spot.  He knows a lot of the Antigua recruits as he was looking at them when Antigua was at Seton Hall, so he has some familiarity.

Willard is a great defensive coach, and hopefully USF can pull this off.  Much better than what we have been getting lately.

By "good landing spot", I assume you think that he'll be let go by Seton Hall if this year continues to go the way it is .... which wouldn't be surprising considering his overall lack of success there.

Like USF had any shot at all at either one of those two ... we passed on Coach K, too.

Coach Knight was never considered. Don't forget that one of USF's prominent boosters denounced USF going after Huggins because he said that is not the USF way to hire someone like Huggins. He even called TJ Rives on the radio to state that much

Kevin Willard was Big East coach of the year last year and his team has a chance to make the NCAA tourney again this year as well...he will not be coaching USF...lol

Huh? There's a good chance they'll be in the tourney this year...

I was kind of going by the "good landing spot" comment of the OP which, to me, refers to someone who's about to be jettisoned ... looking at his record again, though, IF he makes the NCAA's again, don't see how they could let him go ... and if he isn't let go, I'm back to my original question of why would he leave SHU to come here.
