Again that is strange as we seem to protected from advertising on this board. I assume there are no paid ads in the mad cow? I have never been to it because of the password requirement.

Brad can hopefully give a more detailed explanation, if he sees this ...

Just place a robots.txt file in your root, Brad and no search engine will index what you put in there. Google also let's you tell it what not to crawl on its portal. This is a silly reason to password something.

I disagree. SEO is my area of expertise, and I think once google decides that you are an "unsafe" site, it's very difficult to go back from that. Robot texts are overrated. Locked up is the only way to guarantee that it stays off the radar.

Plus, many indexing robots don't obey any rules.

In addition, this is a place where folks can feel free to take positions and state opinions that may or may not be their own - just for arguments' sake.

Having it PW-protected helps members be more open.

But remember folks, NO personal attacks. It's all about the position, not about the person.

It has a password because I wouldn't want anyone from the public to mistakenly or unknowingly enter that board. I'm not sure how it is these days but it's been pretty nasty, hostile and intolerant in the past, sort of like many have behaved since election, i.e. the Womens March.

I thought I had a link on the forum main page to click to request password. It's sends an email confirming your reeuest, followed by receipt of password.

Please don't let the ideological and partisan bickering spill over into the other boards or let it develop animosity amongst Bulls fans.

When the MC Lounge started, it was actually fun.  As the board grew and the country became more polarized, it's been useless. I've considered deleting it for everyone's sake but some enjoy it.

I hope its gotten better, but I seriously doubt it.
