Thorpe Named to The American’s Weekly Honor Roll

The junior guided USF to the team’s first conference win with 22 points, eight assists

TAMPA, FEB. 13, 2017 – University of South Florida guard Geno Thorpe (Pittsburgh) was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll on Monday.

The junior averaged 16.5 points and 5.5 assists per game in a pair of contests for the Bulls. He tallied a team-best 22 points and game-high eight assists to fuel USF’s first conference win of the season, a 64-57 victory over East Carolina (2/11). Thorpe was 6-of-13 shooting, 3-for-6 from beyond the arc and made 7-of-8 free throws in the win. It was his fourth 20-point game for the Bulls. Thorpe was one assist shy of tying his career-high and three points away from matching his career best. He also totaled a team-high 11 points and three assists at UConn (2/8).

This is the first conference recognition for Thorpe this season. It is the fourth time a Bull was recognized on the weekly honor roll this season.
