We're a tiny D3 private school and we just beat a huge D1 state school by over 50 points (12 tries to 2, couldn't keep track of the number of conversions, but we missed a BUNCH!). It was a UC, but not Cal. Cal would likely beat us by 10+ tries. D3 club teams can be very competitive against D1 schools that don't put much emphasis on the club.
