TAMPA, FEB. 4, 2017 – The University of South Florida men’s basketball team starts a two-game road swing at Temple on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulls and Owls have not met this season but will play twice during the remainder of the season. This is the third time this year the Bulls have matched up against a team nicknamed the Owls (FAU, Kennesaw State).

USF was defeated by Memphis in the team’s last contest (2/2). Freshman forward Malik Fitts (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) posted his first career double-double, setting career-bests with 29 points and 11 rebounds.

Freshman guard Michael Bibby (Phoenix) and redshirt freshman forward Tulio Da Silva (Brazil) each netted 13 points each. Both Bibby and Da Silva have registered double digit point totals in the three consecutive games.

The Opponent

Temple enters the contest winners in two of its last three games, including a 79-71 win at Tulane on Tuesday. Guard Quinton Rose led all Owls with 18 points off the bench. Temple has also lost four of their last six games, moving the Owls down to eighth place in the conference standings (Temple was projected to finish sixth). Guard Shizz Alston Jr. leads Temple in points per game (14.0) and assists per game (4.0). Forward Obio Enechionyia boasts a team best 6.1 rebounds per game and 1.7 blocks per game.

The Owls lead the all-time series with USF 6-2. The Bulls won the first two meetings but Temple has won each meeting since. USF has won one of the three meetings in Philadelphia.
