He graduated with a bachelor’s in Political Science and a masters in Education from Arizona. Harlan also has some fundraising experience at Arizona. In the early stages, Harlan would be the front runner to replace Byrne at Arizona. It’s an alum, and a guy that has proven himself in this particular job. http://www.azdesertswarm.com/2017/1/15/14282748/usf-athletic-director-mark-harlan-early-candidate-list-for-greg-byrnes-replacement-arizona-wildcats

Football, however. Jeremey Sharpe, former USF Communications guys is there now.

He made a base of $600,000 per year at Arizona; Battle's four-year deal, signed in 2013, called for a base salary of $620,000. http://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/college/ua/2017/01/15/arizona-athletic-director-greg-byrne-expected-leave-alabama/96627148/ Quote Mar 12, 2014 Harlan's contract is for five years with an annual base salary of $500,000, along with possible performance bonuses. http://wusfnews.wusf.usf.edu/post/new-usf-athletic-dir-mark-harlan-here-win#stream/

It's the greenbacks.

Would be crazy to see the program have to replace their head football coach, head soccer coach, tennis coach, head basketball coach and AD all in one calendar year. The first names that come to mind, easily and obviously, are those with ties to the school. Two names to immediately pop up were TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte and South Florida athletic director Mark Harlan. Both worked in the Arizona athletic department under Jim Livengood.
